According to the data, during the May Day Golden Week this year, as the epidemic situation continues to improve, the travel policy will be gradually relaxed, and the public’s travel demand will be further released. The national high-speed congestion is expected to increase by more than 10% compared with the same period of last year, or it will become "the most blocked May Day in history".
The data shows that the proportion of national high-speed congestion mileage during the May Day holiday has been increasing year by year in the past four years. It is estimated that the degree of high-speed congestion during the May Day holiday in 2021 will be the highest over the years, and the increase is expected to exceed 10% compared with last year.
Affected by high-speed free passage and concentrated travel demand, it is expected that the peak of high-speed outbound congestion will be ushered in on May 1, 2021 (the first day of the holiday), and the national high-speed congestion level will be at a high level from May 2 to 4, and the peak of high-speed return congestion will be on May 5 (the last day of the holiday), and the high-speed road conditions will return to normal on May 6.
From the specific time period, it is estimated that from 14: 00 on April 30, 2021 (the day before the May Day holiday), the national high-speed traffic pressure will gradually increase, with a high degree of congestion from 18: 00 to 21: 00. Affected by high-speed free passage, it is expected that the high-speed departure congestion peak will be from 9: 00 to 13: 00 on May 1, especially from 10: 00 to 11: 00, and the high-speed return congestion peak will be met from 15: 00 to 18: 00 on May 5. It is expected that the return congestion peak will be from 16: 00 to 17: 00.
According to the data, on May 1st, the highways in China are mainly congested in Shanghai section of S20 Outer Ring Expressway, with a daytime congestion delay index of 17.4 and an average speed of about 5km/h, followed by Shanghai section of G1503 Shanghai Ring Expressway and Suzhou section of G4221 Shanghai-Wuhan Expressway.
It is estimated that on May 5, 2021, the main roads that are prone to congestion in the national high-speed return journey are: Suqian and Huai ‘an sections of S49 Xinyang Expressway, with a daytime congestion delay index of 10.2 and an average speed of about 9 km/h; Followed by the Chuzhou section of G36 Ningluo Expressway and the Lu ‘an and Hefei sections of G40 Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway, it is suggested that citizens who plan to travel through the above sections should travel at the wrong peak.
In addition, the high-tech map search big data predicts that the TOP 10 cities for cross-city travel in China during the May Day period are mainly distributed in the southern region, with Guangzhou being the hottest, followed by Beijing, Hangzhou and Shanghai. Among the top ten popular ancient cities (towns) for self-driving during May Day, the top three are: Fenghuang Ancient City in Xiangxi, the ancient town of xitang in Jiaxing and Old Town of Lijiang.
